The president said the encampment raised “reasonable concerns” about safety on campus.
“It is well documented that there has been hate speech and intimidatory behavior at other campus demonstrations,” Frye said.

Drexel Police Department Public Safety is monitoring the encampment to ensure it is “peaceful and undisturbed” and that participants “act with mutual respect,” Frye said.
“We stand ready to respond quickly to any disruptive or threatening behavior by anyone,” Frye said.

Philadelphia University’s president reiterated that he “does not tolerate” destruction of campus, harassment and intimidation of students, faculty and staff, and speech that is “overtly racist, anti-Semitic, and Islamophobic.”
“We also do not allow anyone who is not a member of the Drexel community to enter our buildings or residence halls,” Frye said.
Drexel University Public Safety said all buildings are on lockdown and only authorized persons can enter or exit.

The protests at Drexel University came just a day after 19 people were arrested at the nearby University of Pennsylvania.
Police confirmed to Fox News Digital that 19 people were arrested following a protest at the university’s Fisher Bennett Hall.

According to the university, six students were among those arrested, and 12 people were charged with charges including failure to disperse. Twelve people were later released, but FOX29 reported.
