Authorities say a man who crashed his minivan into a nail salon on Long Island was intoxicated at the time of the incident.

Steven Schwary was taken into custody and charged with DUI after the fatal crash at Deer Park strip mall.

According to Suffolk County police, around 4:30 p.m., a driver was speeding through a parking lot when he crashed a 2020 Chevrolet Traverse into the windshield of Hawaii Nail & Spa.

He also said Schwarie was semi-conscious when her car finally came to a halt behind the store.

Emilia Lenhack, 30, was one of three women and one man pronounced dead at the scene. She was assigned to the 102nd Precinct, where her husband is also a detective.

“Our hearts are broken by the tragic loss of our colleague, Sergeant Emilia Lenhack, from the 102nd Precinct yesterday during an off-duty incident,” the New York City Police Benevolent Association posted on social media. “Please join us in praying for her family, friends and colleagues.”

Police said the salon was open at the time of the incidents, but all of the fatalities occurred inside the business.

Eight more women and one man were injured and taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, including a 12-year-old girl.

After the accident, some of them became trapped inside the facility and had to be rescued before being removed from the scene.

Police said two people were in critical condition but did not release any other information about the victims. No additional names were released.

Schwary was injured in the crash and was taken to Good Samaritan University Hospital in West Islip where he is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

He remained hospitalized as of Saturday morning, according to Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney’s office.

Further charges against Schwary are still pending and he is scheduled to be arraigned at a later date.
