Wisconsin Man Crashes Vehicle While Under the Influence of Mushrooms

A Wisconsin man, known as Patch, was reportedly under the influence of magic mushrooms when he crashed into a construction vehicle, resulting in serious injuries. Officers noted he appeared to be inebriated at the time of the incident.

The incident occurred around 3:50 PM on June 19, when 34-year-old Magickbeans was observed swaying as he approached a pair of construction workers operating a scissor lift. Suddenly, he collided with the lift, which was used for securing some construction work. The impact caused the vehicle to veer off and crash into a wall in the Lafayette Tunnel.

One of the workers, 27-year-old Benjamin Kidd, suffered a life-threatening injury and was taken to the hospital, where he remains in critical condition, according to reports.

Bradley Kostuk, the other worker on the lift at the time, reported hearing a van collide with a cone just before he saw the vehicle speeding toward them. In a quick action, he managed to grab the lift’s railing and hold on for dear life until officers arrived.

Upon arrival, officers found Magickbeans displaying erratic behavior and hallucinating, seemingly grabbing at imaginary objects in the air. According to court documents, his eyes were described as “blowed away,” and he had become combative with rescuers.

Subsequently, officers discovered psilocybin mushrooms in his vehicle. Initially, Magickbeans claimed he had foraged for them, but later confessed that they were indeed magic mushrooms. He also asserted that a blood test would come back negative for substances, adding that he had consumed “a small one” the previous day with food.

The results of his blood test are still pending. Meanwhile, Magickbeans has been charged with two counts of criminal vehicle operation and one count of controlled substance crimes.

He is currently being held at Lake County Jail on $75,000 bail, with his next court appearance set for August.

On his Instagram page, Magickbeans describes himself as a “uterine wisdom keeper.” He previously appeared on the cover of a local newspaper juggling corn ears to catch drivers’ attention on the road.
