A contributor to a far-left outlet has openly called for the complete destruction of Israel while claiming he doesn’t want Israelis to feel “unsafe.” Palestinian journalist Abubaker Abed, who describes himself as an “accidental war correspondent,” made these comments on social media this past Monday.
On Instagram, Abed stated, “Wiping Israel off the face of the earth is not revenge enough. Israelis should no longer feel safe. We will follow them and follow them wherever they go. These terrorist parasites must be removed from the earth.”
In response, Ryan Grimm, co-founder of Drop Site, clarified that Abed’s views do not align with the organization’s editorial stance, though he didn’t condemn the rhetoric aimed at Israel. Grimm emphasized the importance of not policing the language of genocide survivors.
Drop Site, which is known for its critical reporting on the Gaza War, defines itself as a “non-aligned investigative news organization” focused on exposing the misdeeds of powerful entities, particularly those where the U.S. government is involved. The organization has received backing from the Open Society Foundations, linked to George Soros, including a grant of $250,000 to set up a Middle East desk in 2024.
