In an interview on Saturday The New York TimesActor Vince Vaughn supports greater individual freedom and has said, “People should own guns.”
Vaughan talked Together The New York Times Speaking about his own background, Vaughan noted that his maternal grandfather was an Italian immigrant who had little formal education. “He was a pawnbroker and a jeweler,” Vaughan said.
The actor described his paternal grandfather as “a sharecropper and steelworker.” [who] I had a 100-acre farm.”
Vaughn noted that his father was the first in his family to attend college.
He said: “Then I moved from the apartment I grew up in to the upper-class suburbs, where I had a lot of exposure to different things and different worldviews.”
of The New York Times Vaughn asked: “Do you think the extremes of your background have influenced your politics?”
Vaughn identified himself as a libertarian and replied, “Yes, I definitely believe individuals should have the freedom to make their own choices, so I believe drugs should be legal and I believe people should have guns.”
He explained that he understands people have strong opinions about gun ownership, but that he sees drugs and guns in a similar light: “It’s like when hippies get high and say, ‘I’m not hurting anybody, it’s no big deal.’ And hunters say, ‘We have guns, we have the right to protect ourselves, it’s no big deal.’ They were similar.”
On June 4, 2015, Breitbart News reported: GQ In the interview, Vaughn expressed support for having guns in schools to protect children.
“You think the politicians that run my country and your country don’t put guns in the schools our children go to? They do, and we should have that same right,” Vaughn said. “Banning guns is like banning forks to stop people getting fat.”
