Duck Boat Overturns in Cambridge

A duck boat carrying tourists overturned in Cambridge, Massachusetts, on Saturday, leading to injuries for several passengers, according to state police.

The incident took place at a boat launch near the Charles River Entrance, and while at least six people were hurt, thankfully, none fell into the water.

Some injuries were classified as minor, but two individuals were reported to have “more serious injuries,” according to the Cambridge Police Department. Emergency crews, including the Cambridge Fire Department, ensured that all onboard were accounted for and safe.

Massachusetts State Police confirmed their presence at the scene, along with assistance from local police and fire units.

The cause of the accident remains unclear. It’s worth noting that the duck boat involved is part of the fleet operated by Boston Duck Tours, a company that has provided land and sea tours of Boston’s notable sites for over 30 years.

This type of vehicle, a replica of a World War II amphibious craft, has been a familiar sight in local celebrations, often featured in parades for championship winning teams like the New England Patriots and the Boston Red Sox.

Because the incident occurred along the Charles River, state police will be handling the investigation into what exactly went wrong.
