Durant likely to sit out Game 4 as Rockets aim to prevent a sweep: report

Kevin Durant Ruled Out for Rockets vs. Lakers Game 4

The Houston Rockets will head into Game 4 of their playoff series against the Los Angeles Lakers without one of their All-Stars, Kevin Durant.

Reports indicate that Durant won’t be playing due to a sprained left ankle, which has kept him sidelined for the second consecutive game. Further assessments revealed he has a bone bruise on the ankle.

Recovery from this type of injury typically takes about two to three weeks, as mentioned by ESPN. The Rockets have been trying various intensive treatments to get him back on the court, but doctors have advised against it.

Durant’s injury occurred late in Game 2, during a loss to the Lakers, and he experienced significant swelling afterwards, which ultimately led to his absence in Game 3.

It seems the discovery of the bone bruise explained why his ankle was more swollen than what one would expect from a standard sprain, according to the report.

Despite not playing, Durant remains involved. He’s been helping his teammates by analyzing game footage and continuing with treatment at the team’s facility.

This postseason has been a tough one for Durant, who was healthy throughout the regular season but faced setbacks lately. He missed the first game due to a bruise on his right knee, which affected his mobility, and his performance in Game 2 was cut short due to yet another injury.

In contrast, the Lakers have been on a roll, led by LeBron James, who is performing remarkably well even without key teammates like Luka Doncic and Austin Reeves. Currently, the Lakers hold a commanding 3-0 lead in the series.

The Rockets need to lean heavily on players such as Jabari Smith Jr. and Alperen Shengun to keep their playoff hopes alive in this crucial matchup.
