E. Jean Carroll attorney says lesson from trial is ‘lies are gonna catch up to you’

E. Gene Carroll's attorney Said The lesson from the recent trial of former President Trump was that lies will eventually be exposed.

“After today, I strongly believe that the lesson is that no one is actually above the law,” Sean Crowley said in an interview on MSNBC on Friday. “And your actions, your words, your threats, your lies will one day catch up with you.”

A jury on Friday ordered President Trump to pay $83.3 million for defamation to Carroll, who denied sexual assault in 2019. The former president said he would appeal the verdict as soon as it comes down.

“Absolutely ridiculous! I completely disagree with both rulings and plan to appeal the entire Biden-led witch hunt focused on me and the Republican Party,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “Our legal system is out of control and is being used as a political weapon.”

“They took away all of their First Amendment rights,” he added. “This isn't America!”

A jury found last year that Trump sexually abused Carroll in the 1990s.

The lawsuit focused on written statements given to reporters in mid-2019 that Carroll publicly accused, as well as South Lawn comments made by the former president. U.S. District Judge Lewis Kaplan ruled in September that President Trump had defamed Carroll. The trial was to determine how much damages the former president owed the writer.

“I think it was certainly very important for her to come forward and protect herself when he called her a liar and slandered her, but the reputation that she has now is really It's being ruined by Donald Trump.'' Crowley went on to talk about Carroll.

“And what she really wants is to be the journalist and advice columnist he was before he lied about her,” Crowley added.
