Eagles captain Lane Johnson says it will be ‘team decision’ to go to White House if Trump extends invite

The celebration began with the Philadelphia Eagles winning a Super Bowl Lix with the Kansas City Chiefs.

Whether President Donald Trump is in the White House, who has not yet released a formal invitation, will be a “team decision,” says veteran offensive lineman Lane Johnson.

“No matter who the president is, I'll be honored to go, but we'll see,” Johnson said via Sports' Eric Jackson. “The ultimate decision is the team. We'll do what's best for the team.”

Johnson was the Eagles team captain and spent all 12 NFL seasons in the franchise.

He was there in 2018 when the controversy returned after the Super Bowl victory over Tom Brady and the New England Patriots.

Trump took office when he revoked his invitation to the Eagles to celebrate the Super Bowl LII victory. Criminal and police brutality have been said to not visit the White House due to Trump's criticism of people who kneeled or raised their fists during the national anthem.

Trump issued a statement at the time regarding the cancellation of his invitation, saying “there are more valuable to the 1,000 fans planning to attend the event.”

“They oppose the President, because he honours the great men and women of our military and the people of our nation, and proudly supports them, their hands above their hearts. Because they claim they have one,” Trump's statement read seven years ago.
