Philadelphia Eagles fans spotted an unexpected message from another fan following the team's Super Bowl victory parade last week.
Amy Lannaberger posted on her Facebook about her discovering a vintage jacket hanging from a light post while leaving the parade. And it was a note that was taped to the inside of the jacket.
An anonymous message began, “If found, please do not return.” “This jacket is yours!”
The message continued:
“I found this jacket on Super Bowl night in 2018, but felt it was right to return to town and release it when the Eagles win again. Enjoy the jacket. Immediately with another SB You'll have the opportunity to win and release it to the world. Go to Birds.”
In 2018, the Eagles won their first Super Bowl, surprising the favourite New England Patriots 41-33.
The team won again this year, beating defending champions Kansas City Chiefs 40-22 on February 9th.
Rannabargar posted a photo of the note on her jacket on her Facebook page Two days later, on the Philadelphia Eagles fan group page.
“I found this jacket at a parade on Friday. I was leaving the museum and I can't wait to hand it over in my next Super Bowl victory,” she wrote.
Her post has been shared over 2,000 times.
“Like the “Message in the Bottle” in Philadelphia! “I wrote Lijaneen.
According to one fan, the jacket is the original Eagles starter jacket.
“My grandfather gave me his and him, so I'm proud to wear it,” writes Shana Earlund.
Rannabarger said she plans to continue the tradition.
“Next Super Bowl, I want to pay it forward.” She told NBC Philadelphia.
