Eagles GM sidesteps A.J. Brown trade discussions with a common response

Howie Roseman on AJ Brown’s Future with the Eagles

Eagles general manager Howie Roseman seems to have rehearsed his responses about AJ Brown in front of the mirror more than a few times.

During recent league meetings, whenever reporters brought up Brown’s future in Philadelphia, Roseman consistently reiterated his point about the talented receiver amidst swirling trade rumors.

“I get that people are interested in AJ Brown. Honestly, I’m not living under a rock,” Roseman remarked, as reported by ESPN. “But my answer remains the same: AJ Brown is part of the Eagles. Just know that no matter what you ask about him, that’s my answer. I see the interest on TV too, but AJ is with us.”

There’s been chatter about the Eagles contemplating Brown’s trade during the offseason. While it’s uncertain, there might still be a chance he could be dealt. Any move, however, would likely need to happen after June 1st due to its complexity.

Brown, who inked a three-year, $96 million deal with $84 million guaranteed in April 2024, hasn’t deterred teams like the Patriots and Rams from pursuing trade discussions.

Roseman reiterated that for now, Brown is an Eagle, but also mentioned that roster-building strategies, in general, remain consistent. “Roster construction is guided by a broader vision, and that vision doesn’t shift based on individual players,” he added.

This time, Roseman’s tone seems different from earlier in the offseason when he had dismissed the idea of trading Brown. It’s a notable shift.

He previously stated, “It’s tough to find top talent in the NFL, and AJ is one of those players.” Back in January, he emphasized the importance of locating great players who have a genuine passion for the game, and Brown embodies that.

Interestingly, the Eagles have already brought in Elijah Moore and Marquise “Hollywood” Brown this offseason, which could indicate potential changes in their receiving corps, with DeVonta Smith expected to stay onboard.

Last season, Philadelphia recorded an 11-6 record but faced elimination in the first playoff round.
