AJ Brown Reflects on Underwhelming Season, Trade Rumors Dismissed
This week, AJ Brown voiced his concerns about his lackluster performance this season, but it seems he’s not going anywhere before the trade deadline on November 4th.
The Eagles are “very unlikely” to trade Brown, as noted in a report by the NFL network over the weekend.
The three-time Pro Bowler has had a rocky start, managing just one touchdown (2-2) in the Eagles’ 4-0 start, with 14 receptions for 151 yards which averages out to about 10.8 yards per catch.
Just days ago, the wide receiver apologized for a puzzling social media post he made after last week’s win against the Buccaneers. The post read: “Don’t be welcomed, listen, don’t retreat quietly. Don’t make a scene. Shrug and move on.”
“I don’t think it’s wrong to want the ball,” Brown explained to reporters in Philadelphia on Wednesday. “It’s not just about getting targets; it’s about improving our numbers. We’re not where we need to be, and I’d like to contribute more when things aren’t clicking.”
Meanwhile, quarterback Jalen Hurts has an average of just 152.3 yards passing and five touchdown passes across four games, placing the Eagles 30th in the league for total yards with new offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo at the helm.
Another receiver, Devonta Smith, is also experiencing a slow start, despite being the team leader with 17 receptions for 158 yards. On a brighter note, Brown and Saquon Barkley have formed a solid duo with a combined seven rushing touchdowns.
After signing a three-year, $96 million extension last year, Brown has expressed a strong desire to remain in Philadelphia. “This is my home, you know? I’m responsible for where I am, but I love it here,” he noted. “There’s a sense of frustration because we all want greatness, and I want that for myself as well.”
