The Philadelphia Eagles' struggles led some fans to call for head coach Nick Sirianni to resign after the Eagles lost 32-9 to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Monday night. .
But legendary Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb believes there will be more pressure on the team's general manager, Howie Roseman.
“First of all, I'm going to put it out there: I don't think Nick Sirianni will be fired,” McNabb said in his interview. outkick podcast, “The Five Spots.'' “You think about what they're going to say when they sit down, but you have to remember. Who's tied to Nick Sirianni? It's Howie Roseman. Everybody loves and says, 'Oh, he He's the GM that thought, 'This Howie has the magic touch.' Roseman, he's chasing everybody to win now. ”For me, Howie Roseman gets more attention than Nick Sirianni. ”

Now, McNabb wants to make it clear that changes need to be made to the Eagles' coaching staff, something some fans are hoping will happen after seeing the team lose six of its past seven games. It may not be a change.
“Yes, there will be changes,” he explained. “I think Brian Johnson is going to be a head coach somewhere in the NFL. I think he's going to be a defensive coordinator.” [Matt] Patricia will be fired.and [Sean] Desai will also be fired.
“Both offense and defense need to bring in a new offensive coordinator and defensive coordinator. There will be adjustments made by the position coaches on his staff. Before cutting and releasing Nick Sirianni and firing him, “I think there's going to be some adjustments that his coaching staff needs to make moving forward.” ”
Eagles' Jason Kelce retires after stellar NFL career: Report
But why is Roseman, a general manager praised for his aggressive style that put together a win-now team that reached the Super Bowl last season, facing criticism?
“They're going to have to adjust with the old guys and get some young talent,” McNabb said.
First, Jason Kelce is reportedly retiring following the team's loss to Tampa Bay, which solves one major roster issue heading into 2024. But they're also defensemen Fletcher Cox and Brandon Graham, coach McNabb mentioned.
Roseman successfully contributed to the draft of the Georgia Bulldogs' defense, which included defensive tackle Jalen Carter and outside linebacker Nolan Smith. Dean Nakobe was also drafted as a middle linebacker.

But McNabb feels the team has moved away from what worked for the Eagles last season: running the ball and sacking quarterbacks. Therefore, he feels Roseman needs to get the roster back to do those two things well.
“They're going to have to find a linebacker and a safety,” McNabb said.

“What do you do to get Jalen Hurts back on track? Number one, I've been saying this: Run the football. The reason they were in the position they were last year was because they Because he led the league in rushing. And that was from the running game with Miles Sanders. I think he had almost 1,200 yards rushing or something like that. Jalen Hurts had about 600 yards rushing. They were there in rushing. They were leading the league in rushing because Gainwell was running the football.”
“They have to find a formula to get back to where they were, because this team is not going to just sit back and throw the football 35, 40 times a game and run the football 18-23 times a game. Because we're not a super-talented team that decides.'' No, it's not built that way, so it doesn't work that way. ”
McNabb believes that if Roseman fills the role this offseason, it will be up to Sirianni to make the appropriate coaching changes and get the job done in 2024.
Otherwise, Sirianni's job will likely be in even more jeopardy.
