The Eagles have not shaken their roster.
A day after releasing cornerback Darius Slay, the Eagles say goodbye to fellow veteran defensive back James Bradbury three seasons later. Reported by Ian Rapoport of NFL Network Tuesday.
This move will be designated as a release after June 1st. This means that the existing Super Bowl champions can save $2.1 million in cap space.
The $2.1 million adds to the $4.3 million saved from Monday's release of Slay.
A former second pick from Samford in 2016, Bradbury began his career with the Panthers and stayed in Carolina for four seasons.
He then signed a three-year, $29.8 million giant in 2020.
Bradbury's era with the Giants ended in May 2022 after the new administration of general managers Joe Shane and manager Brian Dabort failed to find a trading partner.
He landed later that month with Big Blue's disgusting rival.
“Um, you know? I'm glad you've experienced it. I think one is the Philadelphia Eagles fan base, the greatest fan base in the world,” Bradbury, 31, said Tuesday. According to Zach Berman of Phly.
“I'm happy you've experienced the high and low level of being a part of the Philadelphia Eagles. I'm always going to cherish these moments that I've had.”
Bradbury reached the Super Bowl in his first season with the Eagles and was at the heart of a controversial penalty in February 2023 with a 38-35 defeat to the Chiefs in Philadelphia.
He was unable to play in this year's Super Bowl rematch after suffering a summer-torn Achilles, but Bradbury was proud to be part of the team that beat the Chiefs 40-22.
“I'm grateful that it ended in the Super Bowl Ring,” he said.
Bradbury, who will be 32 by the time the 2025 season begins, has had a significant impact in recent years.
In his first season with Philadelphia, Bradbury earned the second-team All-Pro honors.
During his All-Polo season in 2022, his 51.6 defensive passerby rating was second in the league and his season was 55th.
