Early Super Bowl line movement a ‘steady stream of Chiefs money’

There were some disagreements between Sharp and the bookmaker in the early stages of 2024 Super Bowl betting.

The San Francisco 49ers opened as 2.5-point favorites at most sportsbooks, including BetMGM. However, the game was -1 across the market within hours of the odds being posted, so the early money immediately fell on the Kansas City Chiefs.

Jeff Benson, director of operations at Circa, an influential sportsbook in Las Vegas, told the Post that “the initial funding for the chiefs has spread below the money line.”

Circa is the sportsbook with the sharpest action in the sport, with limits posted for everyone to jump.

Caesars Sportsbook reported much the same thing.

“Early action shows a steady flow of money in the Chiefs style, resulting in a -1 I could go to the 49ers.”

But as it stands, oddsmakers at BetMGM will need a little more money to beat the Chiefs, even though 78 percent of the money is already in Kansas City.

“The 49ers have BetMGM’s biggest remaining shot at winning the Super Bowl. Early action is geared toward the underdog Chiefs, but the sportsbook is rooting for Kansas City to win,” BetMGM said. Tristan David, senior trading manager at the sportsbook, told the Post.

BetMGM told the Post that a whopping 16.7% of this season’s Super Bowl futures bets are on the 49ers, the most of any team in the NFL.

This year’s Super Bowl will be held in Las Vegas on February 11th and will be the highest-stakes event in gambling history.

The 2022 Super Bowl betting record was $179.8 million.

“When you have a neighbor next door, [the 49ers] With the Super Bowl coming up and the game taking place in Las Vegas, it’s safe to expect that records on handles could be set this year. ”
