Early voting kicks off Indiana, New Mexico, Ohio and Wyoming

Also on Tuesday, four other states began their early voting process: Indiana, New Mexico, Wyoming and the key battleground state of Ohio.

Here's everything you need to know about voting in each state.

Ohio Senate race attracts attention

Ohio is home to some of the most competitive Senate races on the map.

Democratic Sen. Sherrod Brown has won the Midwest state three times, but the race is expected to be close as President Trump drives white working-class voters to the Republican Party and record spending by both parties. are. Brown will face Republican businessman Bernie Moreno.

Republicans moved into the northeast, bordering Pennsylvania, and areas with a high concentration of industrial areas. Trumbull County turned Republican in 2016, and Trump's lead widened to 10 points in 2020. Mahoning County reversed in 2020 by almost two points. These counties played a key role in Trump's statewide victory.

Democrats are doing better than ever in the “three Cs” of Cleveland, Columbus, and Cincinnati. These areas have the highest percentages of voters with college degrees. President Biden won the counties where these cities are located by double-digit margins in 2020, including Franklin (Columbus) and Cuyahoga (Cleveland) by about 30 points.

Unlike other competitive states, Republicans remain strong in Ohio's suburbs and exurbs, especially in areas around Cincinnati.

Ohio's Senate race is a close one, and the presidential race is ranked as likely R on the Fox News Power Rankings.

Meanwhile, New Mexico is also in the “likely” column at both the presidential and Senate levels. The state gave Biden an 11-point victory in 2020, but Latino or Hispanic voters made up 35% of the state's electorate in the 2020 election, and recent polls show that these voters Support for it is wavering.

To win, Republicans will need to widen their lead with these voters across the state and keep Harris at bay in areas like Doña Ana County, which last voted for Biden by 18 points in her home base of Albuquerque. There is.

  • New Mexico District 2: New Mexico's Second District occupies most of the land area in the southwestern part of the state. It includes parts of Las Cruces and Albuquerque, but also has a significant number of local votes. In the midterm elections, Democratic Rep. Gabe Vasquez won the district by just 1,350 votes. This year, he will face former Republican Yvette Herrell for the same seat. This is a power ranking toss-up.
  • Ohio 9th District: This northwest Ohio seat has been held by populist Democratic Rep. Marcy Kaptur since 1983, but her support has shrunk as Ohio has moved to the right. She will face conservative Republican state Rep. Derek Melin on this year's ballot. It's another power rankings toss-up.
