Eaton Fire over 10k Acres, 5 Dead, Homes Lost, 100k People Evacuated

The Eaton Fire, which broke out in Altadena and Pasadena in Los Angeles County, has grown to more than 10,000 acres, killed at least five people, destroyed hundreds of homes and left more than 100,000 people under evacuation orders.

The fire started Tuesday night around 6:40 p.m. and quickly spread throughout Altadena and into Pasadena as the worst Santa Ana storm since 2011 continued. Since the fire started, hundreds of homes have been lost on more than 10,000 acres, including some historic ones. Protected areas like Altadena's famous Christmas Tree Lane. Up to five people have been reported dead, but authorities expect the number to rise.




Videos of the aftermath shared online showed entire neighborhoods reduced to ashes.
