Ecuadorian soccer player crashes into medical cart with injured teammate in unusual incident

A strange series of events unfolded during a second-division soccer match in Ecuador on Sunday, when a medical cart transporting an injured player collided with another player on the field.

This incident took place in the 72nd minute of the Liga Pro Serie B match, where LDU Porto Viejo was leading El Nacional 1-0.

As the medical cart made its way back to the sideline, Porto Viejo’s Edison Caicedo seemingly veered off course and crashed into it, sending him tumbling to the ground.

Caicedo managed to crawl a short distance before he fell again, clearly in distress, as team members watched on in concern.

Staff from Porto Viejo quickly rushed to confront the cart driver, with multiple individuals, including coach Raul Duarte, vocally expressing their frustration.

Duarte was prominently featured on the broadcast as he engaged with the driver, at one point demanding accountability from those involved.

Meanwhile, soccer fans on social media seemed to find humor in the situation, with many suggesting that Caicedo might have deliberately run into the cart.

One user on Reddit quipped, “He’s as desperate as the cart driver trying to earn a card.” Another responded, “They say they’re ‘hunting’ him, but he looks too able to get back on the field.”

One social media user even noted, “It feels like I’m watching an OKC highlight video,” referring to the ongoing discussions about players flopping, particularly related to the NBA’s Oklahoma City Thunder.

At the time of this unusual occurrence, Porto Viejo was maintaining their 1-0 advantage, following a goal from Juan Camilo Gonzalez Moran in the 30th minute.
