A high school teacher has been accused of sexually abusing a student. She is a married mother of two who had previously expressed online concerns about a “creepy” man.
Daniel Weaver, 29, was arrested on February 18 after staff at Lee County High School in Leesburg, Georgia, reported inappropriate sexual contact with a minor, as stated by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
Following her arrest, her husband Caleb filed for divorce the very next day, and he was granted temporary custody of their two daughters, per court documents reviewed.
Interestingly, Weaver had posted a TikTok video earlier where she complained about a “creepy” encounter with a man asking her for an e-cigarette.
In the video, she voiced her frustrations: “Okay, I just wanted to know, why are men so creepy sometimes?” It’s a striking irony given the allegations she’s facing.
After her arrest became public, the video sparked harsh criticism online, with one comment asking, “Why do teachers have to be so creepy?”
Details remain sparse about the incidents leading to her arrest, though district officials confirmed an “ongoing legal investigation” at the high school.
Even though they didn’t disclose her name, district representatives confirmed on February 5 that the teacher involved “no longer works for the district.”
Upon learning about the allegations, school leaders acted swiftly to ensure student safety and initiated a thorough investigation.
The district first became aware of the charges on February 3 and alerted the police, who secured a warrant for her arrest on February 17.
Weaver turned herself in the day after her arrest warrant was issued, facing charges of child abuse and inappropriate sexual contact as an employee or agent.
The investigation by the GBI is still underway. After completion, they will hand the case over to the Southwest Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
Caleb Weaver’s court filings indicated that their relationship was “irretrievably broken,” claiming they had separated earlier on February 5. A judge granted him temporary custody of their daughters, who often appeared in her social media posts.
Just days before her arrest, on February 1, Weaver had shared a TikTok video of herself dancing with her young children.
Her other videos document her marriage, the births of her children, and moments with students in her classroom.
Caleb has been awarded sole ownership of their home, with restrictions on Weaver’s entry unless visiting their children. He is also seeking permanent custody and child support, according to court documents.
Leesburg is situated in South Georgia, roughly an hour and a half from Tallahassee, Florida.
