Altercation Involving Dallas Police and Egyptian Soccer Team
Video footage reveals that at least two officers from the Dallas police department and members of the Egyptian national soccer team were involved in a heated altercation.
This incident occurred on Thursday when a player was posing for pictures with young fans in a hotel lobby. An officer approached a staff member and touched his arm to get his attention.
After an exchange of words, the officer began shouting, “Stand back! Stay back! Stay back!” It’s unclear how the staff member reacted at that moment.
Following this, shoving broke out in a restricted area, with the officer pointing aggressively at the employee’s chest, just inches away. Another member of the Egyptian delegation stepped in to separate the two before the situation escalated further.
The officer then reached behind his back to retrieve an item from his belt, which was located near his firearm.
According to reports from Yahoo, the staff member involved was identified as Ibrahim Hassan, the team director and brother of head coach Hossam Hassan.
A source mentioned that the clash stemmed from the organizers’ inadequate handling of Egyptian fans, leading to a confrontation between Ibrahim Hassan and the hotel security. Fans were eager to capture moments with the players, but the security responded with undue aggression, prompting Hassan to step in to protest their behavior.
Fortunately, tensions in the hotel lobby eased within a minute, and the Egyptian team members exited without further incident.
Looking ahead, Egypt is set to face Australia in a round of 32 match at AT&T Stadium on Friday at 2 PM.
There were no reports of injuries or arrests following the altercation. The Egyptian Football Association downplayed the incident, labeling it a “minor altercation” that concluded quickly, adding that Hassan’s actions were intended to “protect the child and prevent harm.”
