The body of Mary Margaret Haxby Jones, who would have been 81 years old at the time of her discovery, was discovered by a family member visiting from out of town. The family was apparently visiting a home on Zion Avenue, about 16 miles from downtown San Diego, California.
A family member accidentally discovered the woman's body after opening the chest freezer. They immediately called the police at around 11:45 a.m. on Dec. 22. After a woman's body was found in an unusual location, the San Diego Police Department Homicide Unit was dispatched to investigate the situation.
