Elijah Wood from 'Lord of the Rings' unexpectedly joins a couple's Hobbit-themed wedding in the Shire.

Elijah Wood Surprises Newlyweds at Hobbiton Wedding

Elijah Wood, known for his role as Frodo Baggins in the ‘Lord of the Rings’ films, brought a delightful surprise to a wedding at New Zealand’s Hobbiton set.

Sharik and Jessica Burgess-Stride, the newlyweds, described the moment saying, “We had just finished signing the papers when we saw him walking down the aisle.” Initially, Sharik thought, “No way, that can’t be him,” but soon realized, “Oh, that’s definitely him!”

The couple shared that Wood took the time to snap photos with them and offer his congratulations. The wedding photographer, Kath Uriet, recounted the experience on Instagram, mentioning how Wood and his family observed the ceremony as the couple signed their marriage documents.

Uriet also noted, “I rushed to see him and asked him for pictures with the couple. He was really polite and didn’t want to interrupt, but we managed to encourage him, and everyone welcomed him.” The groom shared with local media his lifelong admiration for ‘The Lord of the Rings’, even incorporating elements of the series into his wedding vows.

Both Sharik and Jess hail from Rotorua, a region famous for its connection to the film, and their choice of the Hobbiton set reflects the area’s appeal to fans. Wood, originally from the U.S., was in New Zealand for the Armageddon Expo alongside other cast members.

Uriet expressed gratitude, saying, “Thank you, Elijah, for making our special day even more memorable. We all loved it.”

Dominic Monaghan, Wood’s co-star, shared how fans often lose it when they see the four Hobbits together. He added, “I would feel the same way. If I saw iconic Star Wars characters having dinner, I’d geek out too.” Monaghan also reflected on the enduring impact of the films, mentioning that people frequently tell him they’ve just rewatched them and how much they mean to their families.
