Elissa Slotkin’s Latest Trump Conspiracy Theory Is Simply the Same One About Ozempic

State of the Day

Hello, readers.

Welcome to State of the Day. I aim to strip away the euphemisms and misdirections that cloud the news, delivering it to you plainly, with no frills.

Can you believe they still engage in this nonsense?

Let’s dive in.

I know you are, but what am I?

Take a look at this tweet. It’s spot on, from the source to the content of what was actually said.

Bulwark is, in a way, the latest, perhaps the most polished example of principled Never Trump thought, wrapping liberal whims in a conservative facade and pitching it back to progressives like some trendy accessory.

(It’s amusing, really.) The most significant outcome of the unsuccessful Jeb Bush campaign appears to be Bulwark, featuring Tim Miller‘s rather inflated self-importance.

In a tweet, Bulwark is backing Elissa Slotkin, a former CIA operative touted as the Democratic Party’s answer for moderates. I really don’t understand how she seems ideal to the left, which often complains about overreaches. An analyst with a military tour in Iraq, no kids, divorced. People expect her to challenge Vance as a “true veteran.”

The challenge for everyone involved is that she seems to be caught in similar illusions as the rest of her party. She’s just a tidier, more restrained version of the same overall foolishness confronting the Democrats, almost like a defense against the rational Never Trump conservatism.

It’s as if she experiences the liberal panic with a more measured response.

Let’s address the elephant in the room. She claims that Trump is preparing to become a permanent fixture in office. That’s familiar territory. Trump is going to require loyalty and tighten his grip on power. He’ll use that power against rivals. The narrative goes that he’s an “authoritarian.” When push comes to shove, he will do whatever it takes to hold on.

Yes, we’ve heard all this before. And we’ve witnessed it happen—unless it involves Trump.

It was the Democratic Party that set up extensive machinery for censorship, surveillance, and repression. They aimed to silence certain inquiries, threatening financial and reputational harm. It was also the Democrats who organized and financed domestic militias, looking the other way as these groups often assaulted ordinary conservatives in public. They investigated, targeted, and arrested conservatives based on dubious charges. Additionally, they suppressed loyal judicial figures to undermine the Democratic process outright. They even used their powers to push Trump’s name off ballots, wielding intelligence and legal agencies against fellow citizens, targeting not only political adversaries but even casual supporters.

Now, as conservatives push back, seeking real accountability for the wrongs they’ve endured, it’s the Democrats who are complaining about it all.

Facing consequences for your actions is not, in fact, persecution.

Sorry, but it seems like you’re in detention regardless.

Think about your choices.
