Ella Langley Named American Eagle’s “Denim Darling”

In a swift turn of events, country artist Ella Langley has taken on the role of “Denim Darling” for American Eagle. This comes not long after the brand faced criticism over its choice of Sidney Sweeney as a spokesperson.

Recently announced, American Eagle launched its new line, American Eagle Jeans Country, featuring various award-winning artists. Back in July 2025, the brand kicked off a campaign titled “Sidney Sweeney Has Great Jeans,” which stirred controversy due to its play on words involving “jeans” and “genes,” leading some to accuse it of being racially charged.

Social media erupted when Langley remarked, “Genes are passed from parent to child and often determine traits such as hair color, personality, and even eye color.” She humorously added, “My jeans are blue,” just as the camera zoomed in on her eyes.

Despite the backlash associated with Sweeney, American Eagle shows no signs of backing down. Langley, who released her debut album in 2024, has already garnered multiple accolades from the CMA and ACM.

Roots in Alabama

Born in 1999 in Hope Hull, Alabama, Langley is the second oldest in a family of four children. From a young age, she aspired to be a singer. In a 2024 interview, she recounted childhood memories of family gatherings where music was central, describing her grandfather’s piano playing and her early attempts to use a microphone.

In a 2024 podcast, her father remarked on her confidence in her singing talent, a sentiment Langley agrees with, saying, “This has been my lifelong plan.” Her family’s love for music has been a significant influence in her life.

Journey to Nashville

After high school, Langley joined Auburn University but left after two years. Countless nights spent in local bars led her to make the leap to Nashville, Tennessee. Following her boyfriend into the city, she decided to pursue her music career full-time.

She recalled informing her parents of her decision: “I want to drop out of school and move to Nashville… I’d rather start now.” While bittersweet, she felt propelled by a desire to follow her dreams, expressing gratitude for the support from family and friends along the way.

Recognition and Awards

Langley’s career accelerated after the success of her first hit, “You Look Like You Love Me,” featuring Riley Greene. She experienced a historic night at the 60th ACM Awards, winning five categories, the highest for a first-time nominee. Her work with Greene also achieved recognition at the CMA Awards.

Upcoming Projects

Recently announced to perform on the opening night of Stagecoach on April 24, Langley is set to release her second album, “Dandelion,” on April 10. She shared excitement on social media, introducing the title track and upcoming tour.

After nearly two years in the spotlight, Langley now serves as the face of American Eagle, reflecting her growing popularity. “Ella’s partnership with AE highlights the blend between fashion and country culture,” a spokesperson noted, emphasizing her laid-back style.

Langley also shared a personal connection to the brand, stating she grew up wearing their jeans. She fondly remembered her mother in American Eagle attire, reinforcing the authenticity she values in both fashion and music.

Looking back on her journey, Langley hopes to inspire her younger self with advice to keep striving for her dreams, declaring that every step has brought her closer to this moment in her career.
