Ellen DeGeneres Criticizes Trump’s Decision Amid UK Move
Notable comedian Ellen DeGeneres has expressed her disapproval of President Donald Trump’s choice to leave the U.S. in favor of the UK.
According to reports, DeGeneres relocated to the UK last year following Trump’s return to the White House. Sources close to her supported this narrative, and she later shared her perspective during an interview with BBC’s Richard Bacon.
“We arrived the day before the election and woke up to a flurry of texts from friends, complete with crying emojis. And we thought, ‘We’re staying here,’” she mentioned.
Ellen and her partner, Portia de Rossi, sold their home in Montecito and purchased a farm in the British countryside.
“This kind of beauty is rare to us. The villages, towns, and architecture—all of it is appealing. It’s a simpler way of living, really lovely. Everything here seems better—how animals are treated, and people are so polite,” she remarked.
“We made the move in November, which wasn’t exactly perfect timing, but I experienced my first snowfall. We adore it here. Portia brought her horse, and I brought a chicken. We even had sheep for about two weeks,” she added.
DeGeneres’s decision to leave the U.S. in protest of Trump’s election was a significant shift for her, notably since she previously faced criticism from some on the left after befriending former President George W. Bush.
“I’m friends with George Bush. In fact, I’m friends with many people who hold different viewpoints than I do,” she stated to her audience. “It’s okay for us to be different… Just because I don’t agree with everyone doesn’t mean I can’t be friends with them.”
Additionally, she featured the well-known comedian Adam Yenser, a supporter of Republicans and Trump, in her sketches.
