Ellen DeGeneres has been accused of causing a car accident in 2023, as detailed in a complaint recently obtained by Fox News Digital.
The claimant alleges that DeGeneres “T-boned” her vehicle at a four-way stop in Santa Barbara County.
According to the complaint filed in Los Angeles County Court, the plaintiff states that DeGeneres’ “negligence” led to “serious injuries” for her.
Representatives for DeGeneres have not yet responded to requests for comments from Fox News Digital.
On October 16, 2023, the plaintiff claims she was driving a Tesla and approaching the intersection of Ortega Hill Road while obeying the stop sign.
“The intersection is controlled by stop signs in all directions. She stopped at her sign, checked for other vehicles, and then proceeded,” the complaint mentions. “Suddenly, without warning, her vehicle was struck from the right by DeGeneres’ car.”
“Ellen DeGeneres entered the intersection without stopping at her stop sign,” the complaint states.
The plaintiff’s attorney argues that DeGeneres’ “careless actions fell short of what a reasonable person would have done, which directly led to the collision and the injuries sustained by the plaintiff.”
The woman is seeking compensation for lost wages, medical expenses, general damages, and diminished earning capacity resulting from the accident.
The lawsuit also mentions claims of “emotional distress and loss of enjoyment of life.”
Controversy around DeGeneres has resurfaced, especially regarding alleged toxic behavior during her time as a talk show host.
Last month, a former photographer from “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” alleged that the environment on set was hostile, leaving staff feeling threatened and making them sacrifice family time.
Insiders noted that DeGeneres, 67, seemed to dislike male employees and was often cold towards her wife, actress Portia de Rossi, 52.
One former staff member described what they referred to as the “Ellen Gaze” as intimidating, stating, “it felt like the queen looking for her next execution” and remarked that DeGeneres was “horrible.”
While De Rossi was described as “nice” and approachable, workers felt their jobs were at risk if DeGeneres caught them chatting with her.
The former staffer noted, “You would pray that her wife wasn’t around, hoping she wouldn’t notice you.”
The recent accusations bring back memories of backlash from 2020 when numerous ex-employees spoke out about racism and a toxic work environment.
DeGeneres publicly apologized, claiming she was unaware of the workplace culture at the time.
De Rossi later relocated to the UK, where DeGeneres commented on the 2024 presidential election.
