Ellen DeGeneres is poking fun at her own scandals in her upcoming Netflix special.
The new trailer for “Ellen DeGeneres: I Give You My Approval” has just been released, and it shows the comedian talking about being “cast out of showbiz.”
“Women yelling 'Be kind' weren't being kind. That was the headline,” DeGeneres said. “The thing is, I was a comedian with a talk show and I ended my show every day by saying 'Be kind to one another.' If I'd ended my show by saying 'Fuck you,' people would have been pleasantly surprised to find out I was kind.”
DeGeneres' show has been rocked by accusations of a toxic work environment and allegations of inappropriate sexual behavior from a fired producer, one of whom was reportedly at the center of complaints about a poor workplace culture.

These headlines tarnished her reputation as a “nice girl,” and she announced she would be leaving the show in 2021 and apologized to staff. The final episode aired in May 2022.
In her apology video, DeGeneres said the origins of ending her shows with “be kind” were linked to the death of Tyler Clementi, who committed suicide as a teenager after being bullied for being gay.

“It made me think that the world needs more kindness, and it reminded me that we all need it, and I think we need it now more than ever,” she said.
“It's a tough position to be known as the kindest woman, so if anyone is thinking about changing their title or getting a nickname, let me give you some advice: don't use the title 'kindest woman.' Don't do that,” DeGeneres joked.
