After declaring last year that the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) program should be “decommissioned,” Tesla CEO Elon Musk apparently did his part to eliminate the DEI program. seems to be playing a role.

This language was removed from human resources department filings last year. first reported Bloomberg touted Tesla’s diverse workforce.
“At Tesla, our employees are passionate about making a difference in the world and for each other,” begins the now omitted paragraph. “Enabling our employee resource groups, which have a majority-minority workforce, to lead efforts to attract, develop, and retain passionate employees is key to our continued success. But Tesla has removed direct references to DEI before. The company’s 2021 10-K states: “Our ability to retain our employees depends on our ability to sustainably foster a safe, respectful, fair and inclusive environment, and to promote diversity, equity and inclusion internally and externally. We believe it depends on our ability to operate our business.” That language will not be included in subsequent filings.

Tesla did not immediately respond to FOX Business’ request for comment on why it eliminated references to DEI in its filings, but Musk said in recent public comments that the program is doing more harm than good. He made it clear that he thought so.

“I think DEI is starting to decline,” Musk said. “First of all, DEI is actually illegal because it discriminates based on race, gender, sexual orientation, and everything else.”
“I think DEI is in its final stages,” he continued, noting that more and more lawsuits are challenging DEI programs on that basis.
