White House Defends Spending Bill Amid Elon Musk’s Criticism

The White House has come out in support of the “Big, Beautiful Building” after President Donald Trump announced his resignation. Meanwhile, Elon Musk has intensified his critique of the proposed spending bill, describing it as “unpleasant and hateful.”

Musk, openly opposing the new settlement bill, expressed his frustration on Tuesday, stating he “can’t stand it anymore.” He labeled the bill as a “massive, outrageous, pork-filled Congressional spending bill” full of issues.

The spending bill passed the House in late May, primarily along party lines just before Memorial Day. However, two Republicans voted against it, with concerns about spending cuts and rising national debt. Republican Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky has also expressed doubts, citing increased debt limits, which make him likely to vote against the current version of the bill.

Trump criticized Paul and others who opposed the bill but adopted a more restrained tone in his comments. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, when questioned about Musk’s recent remarks, asserted, “The president doesn’t change. It’s a big, beautiful bill and he’s stuck with it.”

Musk, who previously led the government’s Department of Efficiency, had criticized the spending proposal during an interview with CBS, but he shifted focus to the necessary votes still needed to pass the bill. He remarked, “Number one, we need to get a lot of votes. We can’t cut it. We need to get a lot of support.” Musk pointed out that without Democratic backing, support remains a challenge.
