Elon Musk’s X files antitrust lawsuit against GARM ad group

Elon Musk’s social media platform X has filed an antitrust lawsuit against the Global Alliance for Responsible Media (GARM), accusing the ad group of illegally boycotting companies including X, formerly known as Twitter.

X CEO Linda Yaccarino announced the lawsuit on Tuesday against GARM, the World Federation of Advertisers (WFA), and GARM member companies CVS Health, Mars, Orsted and Unilever.

Yaccarino said Company X filed the lawsuit because a recent House Judiciary Committee investigation found evidence that “GARM and its members directly organized boycotts and used other indirect tactics to target and demonetize unfavorable platforms, content creators and news organizations, effectively limiting certain consumer choices.”

She said X determined that GARM’s tactics had caused losses of $X billion.
