Elon Musk’s X to Pay Donald Trump $10 Million Settling Censorship Lawsuit

Elon Musk's X agreed to pay around $10 million to resolve the lawsuit filed by former President Donald Trump.

Wall Street Journal Report Elon Musk's social media platform X has reached a settlement agreement with President Donald Trump over a 2021 lawsuit filed against the company then known as Twitter. The lawsuit, which appointed the company and former CEO Jack Dorsey as defendant, was brought by Trump after being blacklisted by the platform. According to sources familiar with the matter, X agrees to pay around $10 million to resolve the legal dispute.

The settlement will make X the second social media giant and settle a lawsuit with Trump, who censored his account. Last month, Mark Zuckerberg's Meta settled a similar lawsuit for $25 million, with the majority of the funds heading to Trump's Presidential Library.

Despite the close ties between Trump and Musk, Trump's legal team is hoping to move forward with the settlement despite being recently appointed by the president and being appointed by the president to lead the new government efficiency (DOGE). It's decided. Some insiders speculated that the lawsuit could be allowed to vanish, given Musk's proximity to the president and his important financial contribution to Trump's campaign.

The lawsuits against X, Meta and Google that banned Trump from YouTube were originally filed in July 2021 and were progressing slowly until after the November presidential election. After Trump's victory, a settlement with Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg gained momentum.

In 2022, a federal judge dismissed the Twitter case and urged Trump's lawyers to file an appeal. The federal court of appeals heard the debate in the fall of 2023 but had not issued a ruling before a settlement was reached. Officials filed a motion last week to dismiss the appeal. This was granted on Monday.

Trump's lawyers are expected to pursue a settlement with Google over the YouTube ban, but the company declined to comment on the issue.
