Embattled Trump prosecutor fights to keep job as Georgia among five states holding elections Tuesday

Georgia, Kentucky, Idaho and Oregon will hold primaries on Tuesday, including several legislative showdowns that could shape key contests in the fall battle for control of the House. .

Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis, who is leading the prosecution of former President Donald Trump in the 2020 election interference case, is being replaced by the Democratic primary from attorney Christian Wise Smith in a rematch of their race four years ago. is facing an election challenge.

Trump is taking sides in the Republican primary for the open 3rd Congressional District seat in west-central Georgia. The former president has backed his former adviser Brian Jack, who is facing off against five rivals in the far-right red zone.

In the deep-blue Portland-based 3rd Congressional District, two candidates are facing off in the race to succeed longtime Democratic Rep. Earl Blumenauer.
