Emma and Liam maintained their status as the most popular names across the five boroughs, with 382 baby girls and 743 baby boys awarded their names that year.

This number is slightly closer to the total born in the previous year.

The pair has had a firm grip on that throne for years. Liam has been the number one name for boys since 2016 and Emma has been the number one name for girls since 2017.

And for another year in a row, Mia and Noah are the second most popular among New Yorkers, with the latter holding the silver spot since 2022.

“Our youngest New Yorkers are what make our city special,” Acting Health Secretary Dr. Michelle Morse said in a statement.

According to the Ministry of Health, the list of top 10 baby names is not that surprising, with most of them appearing on the list in the past few years.

For example, Sofia was completely removed from the top 10 by Esther in 2022, before climbing into the 3rd place slot.

Isabella and Amelia will earn two spots in 2023, while Chloe will appear on the list for the first time since 2020.

Records show that in the men's division, David slipped to third place ahead of Ethan, dropping to seventh place, but Michael, who was the favorite from 1980 to 2006, surprisingly re-emerged into the top ten. .
