Emma Stone and Dave McCully Sell Renovated Austin Mansion
Emma Stone and her husband, comedian Dave McCully, have made some big waves in the real estate market by selling their dramatically renovated Austin mansion.
They listed the property for a hefty $23.5 million, according to reports. The final sale price hasn’t been shared, but it’s reasonable to think they got back a good chunk of the investment they put into the home, which they never actually occupied.
Stone, who is 37, acquired the house in 2021, with plans to transform it into their family home. After several years of extensive work, they decided to sell instead. The Georgian-style brick residence is situated in the appealing Terrytown neighborhood of West Austin, just a short drive from downtown.
Over the three years, the couple transformed the seven-bedroom property, enhancing it significantly. It features high-end touches, like custom millwork and elegant marble accents, not to mention herringbone flooring.
The sprawling 10,000 square foot estate includes a four-bedroom main house, a two-bedroom guesthouse, and a garage that boasts a custom projection room. The renovation also saw the addition of a large pool and beautifully landscaped grounds.
Stone and McCully, who married in 2020 and have a four-year-old daughter, seemed to have been drawn back to New York City due to their busy careers. Initially, they put their nearly finished house up for sale in May, asking for $26.5 million.
This property was dubbed the priciest house on the market in Austin at the time, previously owned by Eric Moreland and Diane Humphries of Moreland Properties/Forbes Global Properties. The renovation, led by the architectural firm Kupet Kilpatrick, added multiple entertainment spaces and an inviting outdoor environment.
The makeover of the 1.24-acre lot was completed this fall, clearly appealing enough to attract buyers, as the home sold in 2025, though specifics around the sale date and amount remain unconfirmed.
Moreland Group announced the off-market sale recently, and Laura Greissing from Moreland Properties/Forbes Global Properties acted on behalf of the buyer.
Interestingly, Stone has been getting quite savvy with her real estate moves. She sold a property in Los Angeles last year for $4.3 million—$300,000 over her asking price—after having purchased it for $2.3 million five years earlier. She also let go of her mid-century modern home in Malibu for $4.4 million, securing a similar bonus over the asking price.
However, not every venture has gone her way. A one-bedroom condo in West Village that Stone bought in 2016 for $2.4 million sold in late 2021 for less than $2.25 million.
