Far-left podcaster Emma Vigeland stirred some controversy this month with her take on the political downfall of Maine Oysterman Graham Platner.

Vigeland, who used to be a correspondent for Young Turks and is now a co-host on the podcast “Majority Report” with Sam Soeder, made a significant claim during a conversation on another Vox podcast. She expressed that she doesn’t mind if progressive or socialist candidates have a “Nazi” past.

“I’m cautious about putting too much emphasis on a person’s character over their political platform,” she said. She mentioned figures like Bernie Sanders and AOC, suggesting that their actions in support of progressive issues matter more than any ‘secret’ affiliations they might have, as discussed in a podcast released in early July by the Democratic Socialists of America.

When Vox host Asted Herndon questioned her, asking, “You don’t care?” Vigeland elaborated, noting that while this example is extreme, she believes candidates embody party platforms that push for changes like taxing billionaires.

“And that’s what I prioritize over individual actions, because … there are some really problematic centrist and center-right politicians in Washington right now,” she continued.

Later, Herndon pointed out that some voters assess a candidate’s moral character when considering them for office. Vigeland countered by highlighting that those celebrating Platner’s exit also supported former President Bill Clinton and ex-New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, both of whom faced sexual misconduct allegations.

Following her remarks, reactions on social media were strong. One user shared an image of Vigeland in a Schutzstaff uniform, suggesting she would have signed up for the SS during the 1940s.

Another critic labeled socialism and communism as “dark paths,” mentioning extremist elements in the party’s proposals, including abolishing the U.S. Senate and federal law enforcement.

Vigeland made her comments amidst ongoing criticism from socialist and far-left groups aimed at conservatives and Trump supporters, often labeling them as “fascists,” a term rooted in the political movements of historical figures like Benito Mussolini and Adolf Hitler.

Fox News Digital reached out to both Vigeland’s Majority Report and Platner’s campaign for their thoughts on the matter.
