Emma Vigeland’s Controversial Remarks on Political Figures

This month, far-left podcaster Emma Vigeland stirred up some discussion with her take on the downfall of Maine Oysterman Graham Platner.

Vigeland, who used to be a correspondent for The Young Turks and is now co-hosting the “Majority Report” podcast with Sam Soeder, expressed in a different Vox podcast that she’s indifferent about whether progressive or socialist candidates have, well, problematic aspects in their past, like a “Nazi” skeleton lurking around.

She said, “I tend to be cautious about focusing too heavily on a person’s character rather than their actual platform. I mean, I’ve mentioned this before. Take Bernie Sanders and AOC, for instance; they don’t really seem to worry about whether they might secretly be Nazis. What matters is that they advocate for what’s right during voting.” This was part of her comments made in early July.

Astod Herndon, the Vox host, interrupted her, asking, “You really don’t care?” Vigeland continued with her point.

The Consequences of Platner’s Allegations

She noted the current political climate, saying this is an “extreme example,” but emphasized that the candidates represent party platforms—like taxing billionaires—that are shifting people’s lives.

“Honestly, that’s what I care more about than anyone’s individual actions,” she added, pointing out that there are some quite dreadful centrist and center-right individuals in office today.

Vigeland’s Perspective on Morality in Politics

Herndon mentioned that some voters might see a candidate’s moral integrity as important for a presidential role. Vigeland countered that those celebrating Platner’s exit often support figures like former President Bill Clinton and ex-New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, both of whom have faced sexual misconduct allegations.

Social media reactions were swift and sharp, with one user even likening Vigeland to a Schutzstaffel member, saying, “Emma Vigeland would have volunteered for the SS in the 1940s.”

Another critic described the paths of socialism and communism as “dark” and highlighted the party’s extreme proposals, including abolishing the U.S. Senate and federal law enforcement.

Socialism’s Impact on American Values

Concerns are growing about how socialism within the Democratic Party could threaten the American dream, with claims that basic instincts are manipulatively exploited in this discourse.

Vigeland’s statements come amid ongoing critiques from socialist and far-left groups, who have derogatorily labeled conservatives and Trump supporters as “fascists,” harkening back to the political movements led by figures like Benito Mussolini and Adolf Hitler.

Fox News Digital reached out to both Vigeland’s Majority Report program and Platner’s campaign for their takes on this controversy.
