Emmitt Smith and Ron DeSantis have different opinions on diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Smith, the NFL’s all-time leading rusher, believes the DEI program is essential to the success of his alma mater, the University of Florida. DeSantis, a Yale and Harvard graduate and current Florida governor, believes DEI is toxic and should be eliminated.
Why is it okay for DEI fanatics to take over HR departments? Why can they hand out $10,000 in speaking fees to outside evangelists?
Last year, DeSantis signed legislation forcing the University of Florida to cut its 13-person DEI department. took effect on Friday. This act infuriated Smith, a great Dallas Cowboys player. He released an angry statement on Sunday.
I am absolutely disgusted by the university’s decision and the precedent it set. Without a DEI department, that job falls to the provost’s office, which is already overwhelmed with raising funds for the university and continuing to advance its academic research and athletic programs. We cannot continue to believe that a team of leaders, all from the same background, will make the right decisions on equality and diversity. History has already proven that this is not the case. We need diverse ideas and backgrounds to strengthen our universities, and DEI departments are needed to achieve those goals. Instead of showing courage and leadership, we continue to fail based on systemic issues, and this decision has made UF conform to the political pressures of today’s times. To the many minority athletes in college, please be aware and speak out about this decision by a university that is closing its doors to other minorities without any oversight. And to those who are sitting on the sidelines thinking it’s not their problem. [sic] And without saying a word, you are helping support a systemic problem.
Should we believe the football player or the governor?
I believe the governor. That would put them in conflict with many black people. We have been trained to evaluate every situation through the lens of race, not right or wrong. Emmitt Smith is black. DeSantis is white.
Diversity, equity, and inclusion are said to benefit Black people.
I don’t think that’s the case. It primarily convinces black people that their real expertise and contribution to society is managing white thinking. It fosters harmful codependency.
Years ago, I had a friend who was a mid-level editor at ESPN. He wasn’t a good editor. He was bad at handwriting. He considered his strengths to be managing people and bringing ideas together. He told me he plans to stay at ESPN so he can be a voice to stop white executives from making racist comments and actions.
I asked: “Is that your strength? Do you stop white people from exposing their bigotry?”
That’s the reality of DEI. The department is full of women who are responsible for managing the thinking of Black, LGBTQ, and white decision-makers. Their job is to impose and standardize Marxist ideas about race, sexuality, and gender roles. It’s a cult. If you disagree with the DEI department, you will be labeled racist, homophobic, transphobic, misogynist, and more.
DEI departments in American academia and business are the executive arm of a Marxist revolution.
Emmitt Smith foolishly believes that the color of our skin determines whether we have ideological diversity in the state of Florida. DEI departments eliminate diversity of thought and introduce superficial color diversity.
The people leading DEI departments have no real skills beyond imposing their worldview on work and academic culture. They don’t repair engines, work on assembly lines, develop technology, research medical advances, or teach history. They offer no tangible value.
They preach Marxism.
As a Christian, I wish universities and corporations would fund the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit department. These mid-level executives ensure that the work and academic culture is consistent with a Biblical worldview. If someone disagrees with FSH, he is labeled as anti-Christian and is forced to attend a two-week seminar to recalibrate his thinking.
Of course, everyone would object to corporations and state-run universities creating departments to impose a religious worldview.
Why is it okay for DEI fanatics to take over HR departments? Why would DEI enthusiasts allow him to hand out $10,000 speaking fees to outside vendors and evangelists?
It’s all one giant pyramid scheme. They promote and exaggerate racism to justify six-figure jobs. They are not trying to eliminate racism. The more biases they discover or invent, the more valuable they become.
George Floyd justifies the DEI departments of the University of Florida and Costco. White executives continue to need advice on how to properly honor a black career criminal who overdosed on fentanyl while in police custody. The same goes for Juneteenth. Or maybe it’s telling presidents how to respond if there aren’t enough black students in the dorms, which offends the sensitivities of some black students.
This is the career history of a DEI executive with a six-figure salary. They alleviate the guilt of white saviors and ensure that everyone in the workplace publicly agrees to same-sex marriage, or at least has the decency not to publicly oppose same-sex marriage.
They are a growing branch of ignorance.
