Empire State Building stunningly lights up in Eagles colors again

The Empire State Building was lit up in Eagles green on Sunday night, moments after Philadelphia beat the Commanders to punch their ticket to the 2025 Super Bowl.

The iconic New York landmark's X account forewarned New Yorkers that it would light up the building in the colors of the winning teams in the NFC and AFC championship games, a stark reminder of the controversy two years ago. .

When the Empire State Building was lit up Eagles green after winning the NFC Championship Game in 2023, New Yorkers from all walks of life seemed outraged.

The Empire State Building's X account posted a message early Sunday morning that read, “Please don't yell,” anticipating the outrage that could ensue if the Eagles win.

“[Commanders] Big thanks for the next 15 minutes,” he posted as the Eagles appeared to be heading for victory.

The account finally posted a video of the Empire State Building in Eagles colors, along with another sarcastic post.

“It's a shame we have to do this,” one wrote, adding, “Shining in @Eagles colors to celebrate winning the NFC Championship.”

But some New Yorkers don't seem ready to accept the Empire State Building's apology and fired back with replies on social media platforms.

“You can literally refuse this,” one person wrote.

“Just lie and say it’s for Wagner or Manhattan,” suggested another.

The last time the Empire State Building made such a move, everyone from Gov. Cathy Hoschel to Mayor Eric Adams agreed, causing an even bigger uproar.

Jessica Tisch, then the Sanitation Commissioner and current NYPD Commissioner, had the Sanitation Department post a message to X expressing her disappointment in the decision, including the jab at the Eagles.

She further emphasized that in comments to the Post at the time.
