England v Pakistan: third men’s T20 cricket international – live | Cricket

Good evening. After experiencing the crushing realisation during last year’s 50-over defence that it won’t always be alright on the night, England’s white-ball team have prepared for the T20 World Cup with the utmost care. They recalled their IPL players early, a deceptively brave gesture, avoided any confusion over whether their preliminary squad was their actual squad and monitored every infinitesmal movement of Jofra Archer’s elbow.

Alas, not even Rob Key has any influence over the English Welsh weather. Their warm-up series against Pakistan has already had one washout, and tonight’s match in Cardiff has a big cloud hanging over it. The forecast is improving so we should get some cricket, maybe even a full game, but it’s not going to bear much resemblance to what happens in the Caribbean from next week.

England be without Jos Buttler, who is on paternity leave, so Moeen Ali will captain the side. England have such flexibility that any of the four players who missed Saturday’s victory at Edgbaston – Ben Duckett, Sam Curran, Mark Wood and Tom Hartley – could replace him.

There might be one or two other changes anyway. Such rotation is a natural part of World Cup preparation, weather permitting.

Important Events

I still have nightmares sometimes Mainly because of Andrew Miller’s tweets during the Test match at Old Trafford last summer, all of which included rain radar maps, slightly dashing England’s hopes of winning the Ashes.

Alas, Cricket’s answer to the Grim Reaper is back.

Imagine a lovely damp, drizzly evening in Wales? 🙋🏻‍♂️☂️#EngvsPak pic.twitter.com/FyulRubUV1

“I’m sure you’ve already received 3,125,645 angry emails from Llanelli about this.“But if Rob Key has no effect on the weather in England, he is unlikely to have much of an effect on the weather in Wales,” writes Andrew Cosgrove.

Ah, you’re right. Can we at least acknowledge that it takes a rare talent to unwittingly offend an entire nation with two paragraphs of introductory material to a game that nobody really cares about and which may never take place anyway because of the Scottish weather?

T20 World Cup Team-by-Team Guides

If you’re at a dinner party this week and need to fill an awkward silence or change the topic, here are plenty of tips and insights.

“The problem, Maximillian, is that David Wiese, an all-action hired pitcher on the franchise circuit, will be getting a lot of attention in the Namibian game, while Reuben Trumpelman, a genuine fast bowler with a muscular left arm who can overpower the best, will be back. Scotland, the highest-ranked associates, sit 12th and were unbeaten in last summer’s European qualifiers, beating Ireland by eight runs in the final game to move up the table above them.”

preamble

Good evening. I learned the painful reality last year when I was defending the 50-over game that it wasn’t going to happen. everytime England’s white-ball team would be fine that night, and they have been meticulously preparing for the T20 World Cup, taking the seemingly brave move of recalling their IPL players early to avoid confusion over whether reserves were the actual squad and monitoring every micro-movement of Jofra Archer’s elbow.

Unfortunately, even Rob Key isn’t making an impact. English Weather in Wales. The warm-up series against Pakistan has already been cancelled once and there are big clouds hanging over tonight’s match in Cardiff. The weather forecast is improving so we should see some cricket, maybe even a full game, but it won’t be very similar to what’s to come in the Caribbean from next week.

Moeen Ali will captain England in the absence of Jos Buttler, who is on paternity leave, and England’s flexibility means he could be replaced by any of the four players who missed Saturday’s win at Edgbaston – Ben Duckett, Sam Curran, Mark Wood or Tom Hartley.

Either way, there may be one or two more changes – weather permitting, such rotations are a natural part of World Cup preparations.
