In an exciting showdown, the two recent Big East champions are set to face off in the finals of the 2026 Big East Tournament.

With a chance to secure a place in the NCAA Tournament, it’ll be interesting to see if the St. John’s Red Storm can continue their winning streak or if the University of Connecticut Huskies will reclaim the championship.

The Red Storm managed to hold onto a slim lead late in their semifinal game against Seton Hall, bolstered by standout performance from Big East Player of the Year Zuby Ejiofor.

“We’re playing for a championship,” said coach Rick Pitino after St. John’s clinched victory in 18 of their last 19 games. “We poured our hearts into the regular season. I feel like I’m playing for my life tomorrow.”

UW secured their spot in the finals with a decisive 67-51 win over Georgetown, who entered as the 11th seed.

This season’s matchups have shown a fierce rivalry; St. John’s only suffered two losses in the Big Ten, one of which was against UW on February 25.
