Palm Beach Pete Considers Mayoral Run

Unusual elements like viral internet trends, free Botox, and even imported New York bagel water aren’t typically part of a mayoral campaign, but they’re making waves in Palm Beach.

Peter Seimel, dubbed “Palm Beach Pete” due to his striking resemblance to Jeffrey Epstein, is now “seriously considering” a run for mayor. His campaign slogan? A focus on “living your best life.”

After a viral video earlier this year shot his social media following into the hundreds of thousands, Schimmel described the movement he’s part of as something more substantial than just an internet fad. He mentioned wanting to make Palm Beach “really cool and great.”

“It’s a real possibility for us,” Schimmel stated. “This is more than just a campaign; it’s a movement.” He wants to elevate the city’s vibe.

Viral Attention

His fame surged after a video captured him driving a convertible along a South Florida highway, with onlookers yelling, “Epstein is alive!” The attention, as surreal as it is, quickened the pace of his rise to internet stardom.

“My journey started when someone filmed me and said that phrase,” Schimmel recalled. “I now go by ‘Palm Beach Pete’ — quite the transformation.” His online persona has blossomed into something much bigger.

Campaign Ideas

As it stands, Schimmel’s quirky proposals for his potential campaign include “free Botox for all Palm Beach residents,” expanding pickleball courts, and even bringing in New York City water for top-notch pizza and bagels. He plays with the notion of a fun, relaxed community lifestyle.

While he’s enthusiastic about his ideas, it turns out that nobody is officially eligible to run for mayor according to Palm Beach County records, and candidates cannot qualify until 2027. Schimmel is aware of this timeline, yet seems undeterred.

When discussing where the funding for his suggestions might come from, he confidently stated, “I’m self-funded.” His plans extend beyond traditional campaigning—he aims to foster community spirit and build connections instead of aligning with a political party.

Reception and Family Reactions

Responses to this unconventional bid from friends and family vary. Schimmel mentioned that his daughter finds it hilarious while his son remains neutral. Overall, he seems to be receiving positive feedback.

Despite his rise to fame, Schimmel doesn’t plan to alter his appearance, as he’s proud of who he is. “I’m 71 and still vibrant; nothing’s going to change that,” he noted, clearly embracing his unexpected celebrity status.

As he looks ahead, Schimmel acknowledges the amusingly surreal position he finds himself in but plans to take it step by step. “You don’t see many 71-year-olds hanging out with cool influencers. Baby steps, I guess,” he reflected.

For those who might consider supporting him, he cheekily suggested, “Vote early and vote often.” Whatever the future holds, “Palm Beach Pete” is enjoying the ride—something straight out of an internet fairytale.
