Eric Richins had Kouri Richins meds in system at time of death: court docs

Eric Richens, a Utah man who was allegedly poisoned to death by his wife in 2022, had her drugs in his system when he died, according to a recently unsealed search warrant.

Kuri Richins, 33, was charged with aggravated murder after allegedly killing her husband of nine years, Eric, with whom they have three children, with illegal fentanyl on March 3, 2022, at their home in Camas, Utah. He was charged with three counts of drug possession.

“Eric's stomach contents also contained a small amount of quetiapine,” Summit County detectives wrote in one of the warrants unsealed Thursday.

“Eric did not have a prescription for quetiapine, but his wife had a prescription and pills at home.”

Kuri Richens told authorities the quetiapine pills were for sleeping, but the coroner told police the pills were used as an antipsychotic, the warrant states.

The Cleveland Clinic website states that quetiapine is an “antipsychotic drug used to treat several mental health conditions, including schizophrenia and bipolar disorder” and “balances dopamine and serotonin levels in the brain.” It is stated that.

The website also lists many dangerous side effects that the drug can cause, including high blood sugar, fever, stroke, pain, and seizures.

Prosecutors have suggested Eric's murder may have been motivated by financial motives.

Khouri and Eric's three sons were asleep when the 33-year-old woman, who runs a real estate company, allegedly poisoned her husband with a fentanyl-laced cocktail, according to court documents filed last year. It is said that he was there.

Fentanyl is a powerful opioid that can be fatal in small doses.

The couple was celebrating the sale of their home on the night of March 3, 2022.

After her husband was pronounced dead the next day, Kohli allegedly “solely” signed a contract for the Wasatch County mansion.

The couple apparently had a financial disagreement over Kouri's desire to buy a $2 million mansion that was under construction at the time.

According to the warrant, she attempted to flip the residence and sell it for a profit.

Eric's family told investigators they thought the home was too expensive.

According to court documents, from 2015 to 2017, Kouri took out four different life insurance policies on Eric's life totaling more than $1.9 million.

On January 1, 2022, several months before the murder, Khouri “secretly and unauthorizedly changed the beneficiary of Eric's $2 million life insurance policy to himself.”

Investigators say that before Eric died, he revoked Khouri's will and made his sister the beneficiary instead.

His family told authorities that Kouri feared for his life after he allegedly tried to poison himself once in Greece several years ago and again on Valentine's Day in 2022.

After Eric's death, Kouri wrote a children's book about death, “Are You With Me?”

The book's description, listed for $14.99 on Amazon, reads “Are You With Me?” “This is a must-read for all children who have experienced the pain of loss, and for parents who want to provide their children with the emotional support they need to heal and grow.”
