Erich Pratt Signals to Voters the Positive Impact Trump Has Had on Second Amendment Rights

Reversal of NFA Suppressor Registration Linked to Trump’s Second Amendment Policies

Eric Pratt, representing Gun Owners of America, shared insights with Breitbart News on Thursday, emphasizing that the recent repeal of the National Firearms Act (NFA) suppressor registration aligns with President Trump’s support for Second Amendment rights.

On August 5, 2026, a significant ruling came from U.S. District Judge James Wesley Hendricks, who determined that the registration requirements outlined in the NFA were not valid in the case of Jensen vs. ATF. This decision now allows individuals, including those involved in various lawsuits, to transfer suppressors, short-barreled rifles, and shotguns without following the NFA’s registration protocols.

It’s worth noting that Judge Hendricks provided the government a week to appeal before the ruling took effect. Unless an appeal was filed, the new regulations would begin on August 13, 2026. As the Department of Justice did not file any appeal during that time, Silencer Shops and America’s Gun Owners rejoiced shortly after midnight on the 13th, marking, as they put it, “the first legal, unregistered suppressor transfer since June 26, 1934.”

Pratt reflected on these events, asserting, “President Trump has demonstrated real leadership regarding the NFA. He advocated vigorously for the One Big Beautiful Act last year, which successfully lowered the federal tax to zero on suppressors, short-barreled rifles, and shotguns. Trump even commended the repeal of the NFA tax.”

He added, “Recently, Trump communicated with Congressman Andrew Clyde, stating he has instructed the Department of Justice not to appeal the Jensen vs. ATF ruling.”

Pratt also highlighted that the judge opposing NFA registration was appointed by Trump, suggesting that the importance of elections is evident. He noted, “All these achievements would have likely been unimaginable under a Kamala Harris administration.”
