Erika Kirk Responds to Jimmy Kimmel’s Comments

Erika Kirk mentioned that she didn’t require Jimmy Kimmel’s apology after he discussed her late husband, Charlie Kirk, during an appearance on Fox News with Jesse Watters. She believes that an apology should be genuine and not obligatory.

In an interview, she remarked, “Do you want Jimmy to apologize? I asked. Do you want to be on the show? How can I do this properly?” The full interview airs on Fox News Channel on Wednesday night.

Through her team, she conveyed, “Please thank them for their letter. This isn’t our issue, it’s not our confusion… If you really want to say ‘I’m sorry’ to someone grieving, do it now. But if it’s not heartfelt, don’t bother. I don’t want that.” It seems like she values sincerity over formality.

Interestingly, J.D. Vance expressed that he appreciated Kimmel’s apology after returning from a recent suspension.

In Kimmel’s September 15 monologue, he mocked the reaction from Donald Trump regarding Charlie Kirk’s murder, insinuating that those responsible were part of a “MAGA gang.” He described the situation as a new low, critiquing the group for trying to distance themselves from the act of violence.

Sinclair Broadcast Group, which airs “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” on ABC, called for Kimmel to personally apologize to the Kirk family and even to make a donation in their name.

At that time, Turning Point USA issued a statement opposing Kimmel’s comments about Charlie Kirk’s murder. Following this backlash, ABC suspended Kimmel’s show.

After his return, Kimmel claimed his remarks had been “maliciously misinterpreted.” He insisted he never meant to trivialize Kirk’s murder, which complicates his public apology.

He acknowledged that there’s nothing odd about wanting clarity, reaffirming that he did not aim to implicate any specific group in the tragedy.

In a more recent update, Erika Kirk, who now leads Turning Point USA, is set to receive the Charlie Kirk Legacy Award at the upcoming Fox Nation Patriot Awards in New York.
