Erica Kirk Reflects on Thanksgiving Without Husband
Erica Kirk marked her family’s first Thanksgiving following the loss of her husband, Charlie Kirk, with a touching message centered on grief, gratitude, and faith.
In a heartfelt Instagram post, Erica, the widow of the late conservative figure and founder of Turning Point USA, noted that she and Charlie had always cherished Thanksgiving as a time to reconnect with the simple yet profound act of being grateful.
“Even now, especially amidst my deep sorrow, I hold onto that sense of gratitude,” she shared. “God has gifted me with a marriage to the love of my life, a beautiful child, supportive family and friends, and people globally who have reached out with letters, toys, artwork, and Bibles.”
As the CEO of Turning Point, she expressed, “It’s all too easy to focus on what’s been lost. However, the Lord meets me in my weakest moments, gently redirecting my gaze to what remains on this side of heaven.”
Kirk emphasized, “What remains is sacred.”
Charlie Kirk was tragically killed in September at the age of 31, leaving behind Erica and their two young children—a daughter born in 2022 and a son born in 2024.
In her post, Erica reflected on the overwhelming support her family has received in the wake of her husband’s death, stating, “I can’t fully express how much the outpouring of love has meant to me and my kids. I’ve read every letter and card, opened each gift, and I’ve saved them for when they’re older.”
She also shared how she has talked to her kids about heaven, posting a video that showcases a pile of gifts and letters.
“Heaven is our home,” she explained. “I want her to understand that Daddy is having a wonderful time and building a place for her and our family.”
She wrapped up her message by wishing Charlie a happy Thanksgiving, adding, “I’ll have a plate ready for you.”
