Erin Andrews Opens Up About Father’s Health Scare

Erin Andrews shared a heartfelt reflection on her father’s recent health scare during a family discussion. She recounted the stressful events of Christmas Eve, when her father, Stephen, suffered a heart attack and had to be flown by helicopter to a Montana hospital.

On an episode of her podcast, “Calm Down,” Andrews, who is a leading NFL sideline reporter for Fox Sports, described how her father—a respected investigative journalist—was hospitalized in Tampa recently, making it the second time this year. Thankfully, she noted that he is currently in good health.

Reflecting on that Christmas Eve, she said, “It was such a terrible time, just horrendous. But in retrospect, it turned out okay. The heart attack happened right in front of us, which was incredibly scary.” She expressed her pride in her family for how they handled the situation, mentioning how her husband, Jarrett, and she rushed to call for emergency help while her mother and sister supported each other. “My dad was in serious danger and had to be taken to another hospital,” she added, indicating the severity of the situation.

“It was a major ordeal,” she continued. “I can’t thank the firefighters, helicopter teams, and everyone at the Bozeman hospital enough. The last few months have been really challenging for us.”

Recently, Andrews shared that her father faced another health scare, exhibiting symptoms of another heart attack. “The other day, our son FaceTimed his dad while he was in the hospital, and it sent my whole body into a panic. Thankfully, it wasn’t another heart attack, but he showed all the signs. It was a really tough few days for our family,” she explained.

Despite the stressful moments, Andrews emphasized gratitude for the healthcare workers who treated her father, saying they often go unnoticed. “The fact that my dad is still here is a blessing, and those who care for him deserve more recognition,” she shared, visibly emotional.

At one point, tears filled her eyes as she mentioned her and her sister, Kendra, planning to get tested for cardiovascular issues, as they run in the family. “I’m emotional talking about it, but my dad takes such good care of himself. Still, his cardiovascular health is concerning, and he really needs to take it easy for a while,” Andrews stated.

Co-host of the podcast, Charissa Thompson, mentioned how Andrews hoped to spotlight the crucial role of healthcare workers in her father’s recovery. Thompson also took a moment to share that she recently lost her grandmother, highlighting the difficult times they have all been facing.
