At a recent summit hosted by the Ethical Ethics and Religious Freedom Committee (ERLC) of the Southern Baptist Convention, the pastor discussed the rise of sports betting and its impact on society. The event, held Monday at Travis Avenue Baptist Church in Texas, sought to provide biblical wisdom to tackle congregations and family issues.

“The essential idea of gambling is that it flourishes under the conditions of human greed, denies God as a provider and is not satisfied with his regulations,” he said. “Gambling has a negative effect on the physical, emotional and mental well-being of relationships at all levels, and statistics are responsible for it on multiple levels.”
