Norway is making waves at the World Cup, celebrating their first two victories ever in the tournament. But it’s not just the players who are enjoying this moment.
Elle’s star striker, Lynn Haaland, took a moment after their recent win against Senegal to join his long-time girlfriend, Isabelle Hausseng-Johansen, in the stands for a little celebration.
The couple has been together since 2021, though they go way back. Having grown up in the same Norwegian town, they both played for Baan FK, which seems like a nice touch to their story.
During some downtime in the U.S., they explored a bit and shared their adventures on social media, with photos taken at iconic spots like Times Square and Katz’s Deli in New York. It really gives that personal vibe, don’t you think?
Haaland has certainly made an impression in his first World Cup, scoring four goals in just two games, which helped Norway advance to the knockout stages for the first time since 1998.
Captain Martin Odegaard led the charge in their celebrations, which featured a stadium-wide ‘Viking Ship’ tribute. Norwegian fans were in high spirits, with some even rowing in the aisles and around Times Square.
Norway’s coach, Stahle Solbakken, was the first to enter the stands post-match, and he didn’t hesitate to kiss his wife, Anikken, right after the game—it’s these moments that really add to the excitement of the tournament.
With Norway playing exceptionally well, their chances of winning the tournament have jumped to 30/1, which, I think, is quite encouraging for fans. They’ve got a real challenge ahead, though, facing tournament favorites France on June 26th in their group stage finale.
After the win against Senegal, Haaland expressed his feelings candidly, saying, “Honestly, I don’t really care. We made it, it was unbelievable, so I’m not worrying about the next game too much.” He added with a hint of humor, “They’ll probably beat us. They’ll probably win the whole tournament.”
Regardless of his casual attitude, it seems Haaland and fellow star Mbappé are firmly in the running for the Golden Boot.
