ESPN anchor Randy Scott’s morning commute took a scary turn when severe weather in the Northeast caused treacherous road conditions, sending the SportsCenter anchor’s car into a highway median.
Scott posted photos to X in the early hours of Sunday morning, recounting the incident and showing his car in severe damage.
“I’m so grateful to @CT_STATE_POLICE for their help this morning,” Scott said. she wrote in a social media post.“The rain suddenly started coming down really hard and I hydroplaned on I-84, putting a hole in the concrete median. My airbag and seatbelt saved my life. I’m really lucky I escaped uninjured.”
The accident happened around 3:46 a.m. near Exit 58 on I-84. According to WFSB in Connecticut.
The station also reported that a Toyota Highlander had to be towed from the scene.
If there was any doubt about whether Scott needed a new car, he clarified that in another post.
“Yeah, I definitely need help with the new car,” Scott added. “This car has served me well and deserves a break.”
The SportsCenter anchor arrived at the ESPN studios along with SportsCenter host Gary Stryski, whose show began at 7 p.m.
In social media posts, Scott’s ESPN staff expressed relief that no one was injured in the accident.

Scott has been with ESPN since 2012 and previously worked at NESN, WINK-TV in Fort Myers, Florida, WNEG-TV in Toccoa, Georgia and KSWO-TV in Lawton, Oklahoma.
He graduated from Northwestern University in 2004 with a degree in journalism.
