The Hungarian Grand Prix was always going to be a special race for Esteban Ocon.
Drivers will be paying tribute to the race and its distinctive trophy during this weekend’s race.
Ocon claimed his first F1 victory at the 2021 Hungarian Grand Prix, the team’s first since rebranding to Alpine. Renault, which rebranded as Alpine for the 2021 F1 season, last tasted victory at the 2013 Australian Grand Prix.
Ahead of this year’s Hungarian Grand Prix, Ocon and Alpine have unveiled a tribute helmet for the weekend, designed to resemble the winner’s trophy Ocon won at the 2021 race.
Ocon shared some images of his helmet and trophy from the 2021 Hungarian Grand Prix.
This will be Ocon’s final Hungarian Grand Prix with Alpine. The two teams announced earlier this season that they would part ways at the end of the 2024 season. Since that announcement, Ocon has been linked with a number of teams, but all eyes have been on Haas in recent days, with rumours swirling that Ocon and the US-based team are close to agreeing a deal. Some outlets are The announcement is “imminent.”
If the move goes through, Ocon would be paired with rookie driver Oliver Bearman, with Haas announcing earlier this month that the young British driver would join the team next season on a multi-year deal.
